Violinist Nilgün Yüksel has proved herself a well-rounded and diverse musician in numerous settings including solo and chamber music, orchestral and as educator. Recent accomplishments highlighting her abilities include solo concerts with Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, Akbank Chamber Orchestra, Filarmonia Istanbul, Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra, Milli Reasurans Orchestra and Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Duo appearances with pianist Gulden Teztel in Italian Culture Office, Akbank Sanat, CKM Istanbul, Istanbul Technical University.
Yüksel’s passion for chamber music led to her collaborations with several chamber music ensembles, including Bogazici String Quartet. In this capacity Yüksel performed in İşsanat, Austrian Cultural Office, Istanbul State Art and Sculpture Museum, AIMA (Ayvalik International Music Academy). Currently a member of Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Yüksel performs as concertmaster with Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and Milli Reasurans Orchestra.
Yüksel is also active as an educator, working as a research assistant violin instructor at the Istanbul University State Conservatory, where she received Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in violin performance under Venyamin Varsawsky. Yüksel holds Prize for “Best Interpreter of Turkish Composer” from Sedat-Güzin Gürel Foundation for Arts & Science Violin Competition, and she was awarded a full scholarship by Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival.
She began studying violin with Gülden Turalı at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory and then with Venyamin Varsawsky at the Istanbul University State Conservatory where she is currently pursuing Doctorate in Violin degree. She has worked with Shlomo Mintz, Vadim Gluzman, Itzak Rashkovsky, Ernst Kovacic.
